Hurricanes hit the Isle of Youth not once, but twice in the fall of 2008, destroying the general hospital and many polyclinics and walk-in medical clinics that are residents’ first stop for primary health care.
The Hospital is the only facility in Latin America that treats children who have congenital heart defects and need liver transplants.
